Gutron contains Midodrine, which is classified as an Alpha-1 Selective Adrenergic Receptor Agonist. It is prescribed to manage low blood pressure (hypotension) in adults. Symptoms of hypotension may include blurred or diminishing vision, dizziness or light-headedness, fainting, nausea, and difficulty concentrating.
Midodrine works on the blood vessels through the sympathetic nervous system (the part of the nervous system that increases heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, and causes pupil dilation) to rectify blood distribution imbalances, such as reducing excessive blood pooling in the legs when standing, which can result in low blood pressure.
Gutron is not advised for individuals with severe heart disease. It should be used cautiously in those with serious kidney issues or liver conditions. Use of Gutron is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Common side effects of Gutron include elevated blood pressure when lying down, headaches, nausea (feeling sick), vomiting, and heartburn.
Gutron can be taken with or without food and is best used during daytime when standing is more frequent. However, it should not be taken if you plan to lie down for an extended period after the dose. Regular monitoring of your blood pressure is advised while using this medication.
Common side effects of this medication may encompass headaches, nausea, rashes, urinary retention, difficulties with urination, and flushing. It can also lead to supine hypertension, which is an increase in blood pressure while lying down.
Storage
